Felix Escalante

Community Relations Coordinator

Favorite thing about working for VOICES is....

I enjoy the sense of community. I like that I am surrounded by people who really want to make a difference in youths lives. Everyone is respectful, everyone communicates, and people can feel comfortable knowing that they can be who they want to be and feel accepted for it.

What I do at VOICES:

I am the Community Relations Coordinator. I make contacts with community agencies so that they know about VOICES and update them about anything new that has to do with the center. I find ways to collaborate with agencies to help out any youth who need their services. I really love doing outreach and talking with youth about who we are and what we do. It feels good when I see someone from the street really take in what I say and come by to check the place out.

The last great book I read:

Tuesdays with Morrie. A great book about living life and knowing you have opportunities to accomplish your hopes and dreams. At least realistic ones. I definitely recommend!

My recent Discovery:

My desire to really be someone. Not famous, but significant. A person who really utilized their time in a productive and passionate manner. A person who has a dream and the determination to accomplish it. I just have to narrow it down to what that specific dream is.

Don't tell anyone else but...

I am a total nerd when it comes to culture and languages.
